Horsehead and Flame nebula in constellation Orion
The Horsehead Nebula (Barnard 33) in the middle is a dark nebula in the constellation Orion. Behind dark cloud of dust glows hydrogen gas, ionized by the nearby star Sigma Orionis. The Flame Nebula (NGC 2024, Sh2-277) (in the left part of image) is an emission nebula, shines thanks to ultraviolet light from star Alnitak. Both objects are approximately 1350-1500 light years away from Earth. Picture taken with Newton telescope (750mm focal length), astronomic CCD camera in HaRGB technique, total exposure time: 15 hours.
